Jr. NTR’s ‘Nannaku Prematho’ joins $1 million club at US box office

Telugu drama "Nannaku Prematho", an emotional drama between a father and son, has entered the $1 million club in the US in just three days since its release. 

Actor Jr. NTR-starrer Telugu drama “Nannaku Prematho”, an emotional drama between a father and son, has entered the $1 million club in the US in just three days since its release.

“The film has crossed the $1 million collection milestone at the US box office. This is the first film of the year to reach there in such a short span of time,” read a statement from CineGalaxy Inc, the overseas distributor of the film.

Directed by Sukumar, the film also features Rakul Preet Singh, Jagapathi Babu and Rajendra Prasad in important roles.

In India, since its release on Wednesday, the film has raked in over Rs.30 crore. “It’s most likely expected to collect over Rs.50 crore by the weekend. Despite mixed reviews, the film has managed to impress film goers and NTR’s fans too,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS. The film is produced by B.V.S.N. Prasad and distributed by Reliance Entertainment.

Nannaku Prematho Movie beats Srimanthudu first weekend collection record at AP/TG box office

Junior NTR's "Nannaku Prematho" has made superb collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Talangana (AP/T) box office in three days. It is set to beat the first weekend collection record of "Srimanthudu".

"Nannaku Prematho" was released in 1,150 screens in 1,050 Locations in two Telugu states on 13 January. The movie opened to massive response everywhere. But, it clashed with big ticket films like "Dictator" and "Express Raja" on its second day and "Soggade Chinni Nayana" on its third day. These new releases took a toll on its business in the following days.

The Sukumar directoial, "Nannaku Prematho", has grossed approximated Rs 27 crore at the AP/T box office in three days. The Junior NTR and Rakul Preet Singh starrer has earned Rs 19.45 crore for its distributors in three days. It has become the third highest grosser in three days after "Srimanthudu" and "Baahubali".

"Srimanthudu" was released in over 1,050 screens in 950 locations across the two Telugu states on 7 August, 2015. Having opened to overwhelming response, the Mahesh Babu starrer has collected Rs 35.20 crore at the AP/T box office in its opening weekend. The movie has fetched Rs 26.69 crore to its distributors in three days. It was the second all-time highest grosser Telugu movie in the first weekend after "Baahubali".

Since "Nannaku Prematho" hit the screens on Wednesday, it has another two days to conclude its opening weekend. The movie is expected to earn more than Rs 7 crore for its distributors in the next two days. It will surely beat the first weekend collection record of "Srimanthudu" at the AP/T box office.
