It’s indeed a wonder and scientists dream for solar plane got fulfilled. A Swiss solar-powered plane takes off at an airport in Abu Dhabi today marking the start of the first attempt to fly around the world without a drop of fuel.
The aircraft - called Solar Impulse-2 - took off from the Emirate, heading east to Muscat in Oman. The plane takes off today and it won't likely return until late July, early August. The route will take in the sights of India, China, NYC and er, Phoenix, with final stops in Southern Europe and Africa . It will fly non stop for 500 hours and covers three continents and two seas.
André Borschberg and his compatriot Bertrand Piccard will be acting as pilots for the single seater Solar plane. The pilots will practise yoga to stave off the physical discomfort .The plan is stop off at various locations around the globe, to rest and to carry out maintenance. It will land in Ahmedabad tomorrow and pilots will saty ther for two days.
